Blasting Into the Past: How to Become a Retro Gamer

The world of gaming offers us an incredibly vast and varied selection of video games to play. Unfortunately, this spotlight is not big enough to give every noteworthy game the attention it deserves. With a proper blend of innovation, quality, and publicity, there are a few games that achieve "classic" status and remain popular even after console generations pass. Some games are acclaimed at the time of their release, only to fade into relative obscurity once more exciting future releases draw closer. There are even some video games which are well-made, but receive little-to-no attention because they weren't advertised enough or because they were overshadowed by popular games released around the same time.

Many games for instance my sweet roomies hack for various reasons, are not even released worldwide. In today's Internet age, it has never been easier to seek out and obtain the buried treasures of the video game world! My goal here at Maccann Blog is to increase awareness of lesser-known quality games, and this article will show you the best ways to go about building your own collection of gaming treasures from the past.Retro gaming certainly has a different flavor from what today's average gamer is used to. Older games aren't going to impress you with stunning visuals, and you won't find any online multiplayer experiences to speak of. There is certainly no lack of variety, however, and most quality games from the past two decades have aged well.

With so many quality titles available for reasonable prices, why not give some of them a try? Of course, there are many consoles and hundreds of titles to choose from, so your starting point is entirely up to you. Figure out what consoles and games will suit your tastes. maccann.blogspot.com is an excellent site for familiarizing yourself with a console's library because of its well-organized database and message boards. Of course, you can always ask us at the maccann blog to lend you a hand as well! Be aware of when games are available for more than one platform to save money and so you can nab the best possible version.Once you've decided what you want, it's time to buy! A good place to look first is Craigslist.

Check there to see if anybody in your area is offering what you're looking for at a low price. The odds are that you won't find anything rare or valuable there, but it never hurts to look! It is an excellent site for buying common items, like a Super Nintendo. If you're not picky about what you want to play, keep an eye out for garage/tag/yard sales (whatever they're called in your area) where people are selling unwanted video game merchandise. This type of shopping isn't good for finding specific items, but you could come away with some excellent bargains if you browse enough! Most of the time though, you'll be buying your old games on eBay. Before making a bid or a purchase on eBay, it is highy recommended that you check the recent completed listings of the items you're looking for to get an idea of how much you should be paying for them.

To do this, search for what you want to buy, and then scroll down and check the box where it says "completed listings" on the left side of the screen. Once you have a realistic price to shoot for, check to see if there are any "buy it now" listings at that price. If there aren't and you don't want to pay a little extra money, you'll have to win an auction. When you've found an auction to bid on, wait until the last few seconds of the auction to place your bid to increase your chances of victory. Use auctionstealer.com to place the bid for you if you won't have access to a computer at the time (or if there's a chance you'll forget about it).

Always remember to check the seller's feedback! 99% of the time they'll be okay to buy from, but you should always take that extra second to play it safe anyway.Becoming a retro gamer can be very rewarding. It's the only way you'll experience all the best games of every genre, especially those which are seldom seen on today's consoles. It will give you a greater sense of how gaming has progressed throughout the years. If you aren't interested in any upcoming releases, you can find satisfaction in digging through the internet to discover games that you've never heard of or given a second thought to. There's also the possibility that old video games will increase in monetary value someday in the future. On top of all this, it helps ensure that quality games from the past will receive the appreciation they deserve.

Brink Game Preview

What is Brink? Brink is a game developed by Splash Damage and published by Bethesda. The game takes place on a manufactured island that was originally created as a luxury vacation spot for the rich & famous. The Earth, now flooding because of melting ice caps, has caused most of the survivors to seek refuge on the island called the Ark. The game features two sides to play as, the resistance and the security. The resistance wants to spread out the resources to those in need, while the security wants to have absolute control of the remaining resources.I got a chance to play this game at E3 while talking to one of the developers who walked me through it. This game is a First Person Shooter and will be released in spring of 2011. The focus of this game is on team combat and strategic, fast-paced action.

The developers wanted to create a multi-player experience that matches the single-player one so that the skills/strategy built in one mode naturally carry over to the other. Is Brink just another shooter? That’s usually my first question when I hear of another shooter coming out. Very early in my hands-on experience I observed that Brink is not just another shooter. I believe it may secure a good community with a strong fan-base, especially if Splash Damage follows through with their plans for future DLC.One of Brink's more unique features is the transversal system. In many shooters you are limited by what you can jump over or onto. In this game they created an easy to use system that is contextually sensitive, letting you climb over rails, jump to places, grab onto ledges, and even slide on top of certain objects with ease.

This allows the player to move even more freely and get creative in how they get from one area to another. The second feature is one of the most appealing features I’ve seen in any shooter I have ever played. No longer are you limited to just a set of characters or skins, In Brink you get to have your own identity. In short you basically get the character customization of schloss konflikt hack android an MMO but the fast, smooth gameplay of an action, team-based shooter. The character customization is very deep and includes changeable variables such as body shape, skin color, facial details, clothes, armor, and weapons.

The developer who was walking me through the game mentioned how they wanted people to have the chance to be recognized in a server by how their character looks and not just their name.GameplayThe gameplay is pretty straightforward: guns, grenades, and melee. I didn’t see a lot of weapons but I’ve been told that there are a fairly large number of weapons and customizations. Combine this with a sense of identity alongside a very expansive way to transverse the level and I think you have a winning combination. The game has a very strong emphasis on team gameplay.

Not just working together but really using your class’s abilities to try and punish the other team. This part of the game reminds me how well balanced the classes in Team Fortress 2 are, though it kind of simplifies it with a smaller number of classes such as the Engineer, Operative, Medic, and Soldier. In each match, the player gets different objectives based on what class they are. The engineer might have to destroy the enemy’s turrets or to build a turret, while the operative might have to collect intelligence from the enemy. I believe this will really make or break the game for players. When a multi-player game has objectives like this it causes the game to require more than just good killing skills like in a team deathmatch based game.

The game also supports co-op and single-player, which I was told would be the same experience. The same way you play the multi-player, should work in the single-player experience. Final ThoughtsFrom what I played, this looks like a really well designed game that offers a well-refined gameplay experience. With a unique look, feel, and interesting gameplay features Brink is shaping up to be quite an experience. I can see this game bringing a lot of players together for some great battles.

Bubble Bobble The Missing Info The BB Slot Machine

Here is some well known BB info which is still missing in the history.dat file.(There's surely more to say. For example, by looking at the graphics of the game by using the f4 key under MAME, you can find something which looks like a SLOT MACHINE... Does anybody know what's that???)*The "Super Bubble Bobble" Code*

There's another secret code you can enter via Joystick/buttons in the BUBBLE BOBBLE screen in the attract mode, and it goes like this:1P, Jump, Fire, Left, Right, Jump, 1P, RightThis will change the Bubble Bobble logo in "Super Bubble bobble", and the game will change under several points of view: different platform colors, different order for monster appearances... The most important change is that this is the ONLY way to see the REAL ending of the game Lightning fighter 2 hack (and you'll need also to kill the final baddie in a 2P play, 'cause the game wants to promote the "power of friendship"... see below).

If the *super* trick is performed on the original version of Bubble Bobble, the game lets you choose at the very start between "normal" and "super" game, while the bootlegs don't. The "Super Bobble Bobble" bootleg is a hacked version which has the SBB code always activated.*The Bubble Bobble Alphabet*Treasure rooms feature a sign with strange symbols on it. You can translate them by using the first line of symbols, which stands for the letters of the English alphabet in the right order (ABCDE...). Here are the translated messages:Level 20 Door:

"If you want to become the old figure, use the power of your friendship and fight with me!" Level 30 Door: "If you want to get back your love of truth, you must help each other untill the last...."Level 40 Door: "I enclose here these magical medicine, because those are my worst fears!"These are hints to find the right way of completing the game.

Note that Taito used this weird alphabet also in Rainbow Islands, Bubble Symphony, Puzzle Bobble 2 and maybe in other obscure Japanese-only games. *Treasure Room in round 1*If you experience a Game Over in a Treasure room (you have to wait until a weird monster comes and kills you), the game will say that you've reached Round 102, attract mode will show only treasure rooms and, by starting again, Round 1 will be a Treasure Room! *Other High Score Codes*MTJ, HED, OTO, PAN, NSO, KIM, YSH, KTU, SAK, TOP, RYO, SKE, SAN are other codes which have some effect on the game (note that they're the programmers' nicknames).
